Trekking tour

This tour includes unforgettable 13 days to experience the 3 highest peaks of Armenia among which Mt. Aragats Western peak 4005 MSL.

Armenia is a landlocked country in the Transcaucasia region, between the Black and Caspian Seas, bordered on the north and east by Georgia and Azerbaijan and on the south and west by Iran and Turkey.The terrain is mostly mountainous and flat, with fast flowing rivers and few forests but with many trees.  The land rises to 4,090 m above sea-level at Mount Aragats and we have included a nice trek to this mountain in this tour. This tour includes also two other highest peaks of Armenia, one Geghama Mountains located in the heart of the country and the other one Khustup Mountain in South of Armenia. Overnights at camps are followed by nice stays at the small hotels for more comfortability. The treks are 5-8 hours per day with min. 12 km per day trekking.

Tour Itinerary

  • Day 1: Departure form homeland

  • Day 2: Arrival / City tour

  • Day 3: Yerevan – Mt. Hatis 2528 MSL – Yerevan
    Breakfast at the hotel. Drive to Kotayk province for Mt. Hatis ascend. Return back to Yerevan. Dinner and overnight.

  • Day 4: CAMPING Yerevan – Mt. Sevaberd 3100 MSL – Lake Aknalich
    Breakfast at the hotel. Check out. After breakfast bus transfer to the village of Sevaberd. Start hiking to Gegham mountain range. Picnic Lunch. Continue hiking to the Akna lich lake, which lies between four volcanic cones. Dinner and overnight in a tent near the Akna lich lake.

  • Day 5. CAMPING Aknalich – Mt. Azhdahak 3597 MSL – Lake Kapuyt
    Breakfast at the tents. Trek to Mount Azhdahak, which is a huge volcanic cone with a water-filled crater and offers a nice view to Ararat valley, Mount Ararat and Mount Aragats. Picnic lunch at the top of Mount Azhdahak. Descent and installation of tents near the lake Kapuyt. Dinner and overnight in tents.

  • Day 6: Lake Kapuit – Mt. Spitakasar 3555 MSL -Yeranos – Martuni
    Breakfast at the tents. Trekking to Mt. Spitaksar which offers a beautiful view to Lake Sevan. Picnic lunch at the top of the mountain. Descent to Yeranos village and drive to Martuni. Dinner and overnight.

  • Day 7: Martuni – Selim – Halidzor – Tatev – Goris
    Breakfast at the hotel. Check out. Drive to Vardenyants (Selim) pass and visit Orbelyan’s (Selim) caravanserai of 14th cen. which was standing on the Medieval Great Silk Road routes. The pass offers beautiful landscapes which can surprise even the most experienced travelers. Continue driving to Vayots Dzor province up to Halidzor village where world’s longest aerial tramway station is situated called “Wings of Tatev” (5752 m length), already inscribed in Guinness Book of Records. Take the cable car, enjoy 15 unforgettable minutes over the beautiful Vorotan river canyon and arrive to Tatev monastery of 9-15 cen. important religious, scientific, political center in middle ages. Start hiking to Tatev Anapat and Devil’s Bridge where a short diving is possible into the mineral, warm pools. Finish hiking at the bridge and continue driving to Goris town for overnight at hotel. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

  • Day 8: CAMPING Goris – Kapan– Navchay
    Breakfast at the hotel. Check out. Drive to Kapan town and stop at Baghaburd village. Start hiking to Navchay. Installation of tents at the forest. Free time with a hot cup of herbal tea and Armenian sweet “gata”. Dinner and overnight in tents.

  • Day 9: Navchay – Mt. Khustup 3201 MSL – Kapan
    Breakfast at the tents. Ascend the top of Khustup Mountain in white clouds and will offer beautiful view to endless mountain peaks. Picnic lunch and rest. Return back to Navchai camp for a cup of herbal tea and descend by local cars.

  • Day 10: Kapan – Noravank – Khor Virap – Yerevan
    Breakfast at the hotel. Drive to Noravank monastery of 9-14 cen. famous not only for the architect Momik , but also for the nice canyon. Hiking from Amaghu village to Noravank monastery. Continue to Khor Virap monastery which offers the closest view to the Biblical Mt. Ararat (in Turkish territory). Drive back to Yerevan. Check in at the hotel. Dinner and overnight.

  • Day 11: Mt. Aragats Western Peak 4005 MSL – Yerevan
    Breakfast at the hotel. Ascent to the Southern Peak (3887m) Descent to the southern and western slopes. Picnic lunch. Ascent to the Western peak (4005 m) Return to Yerevan. Dinner at the hotel.

  • Day 12: Yerevan – Geghard – Goght – Garni – Yerevan
    Breakfast at the hotel. Drive to Ghegard cave monastery of 12-13th cen. UNESCO. Visit the monastery and return back to Goght village and start hiking through Khosrov Reserve to Garni temple. Visit Garni pagan temple of 1st cen. Picnic lunch or stop at a local house to taste fresh bread and home made pork barbeque. Return back to Yerevan. City tour in Yerevan. Dinner at a restaurant and overnight in Yerevan.
