Week tour to Armenia is a standard classical tour which includes higlights of Armenia.
Day 1. Departure form homeland
Day 2: YEREVAN – THE CITY OLDER THAN ROME
Arrival in international Zvartnots airport in Yerevan –the capital of Armenia. Meet the guide at the airport and private transfer to the hotel. Short rest or overnight depending on flight schedule.
Breakfast at the hotel. Start city tour in Yerevan – the city older than Rome. Stop over the Cascade monument to have a panoramic view to the city. Visit State History Museum and the Legendary Ararat Brandy Factory. Dinner at a traditional restaurant with live music. Evening stroll in Republic Square to enjoy the Singing Fountains. Overnight in Yerevan
Day 3: FROM PAGANEISM TO CHIRSTIANITY
Breakfast at the hotel. Drive to Sevan monasteries 9 cen. and world’s second highest alpine freshwater Lake Sevan. Continue to Garni pagan temple of 1st cen. – the only one survived in the Caucasus and the Ghegard cave monastery 12-13 cen. UNESCO (main relic Holy Spear). Have an unforgettable lunch in a local house yard tasting the famous Armenian Khorovats / barbeque and return back to Yerevan and visit Yerevan Tsitsernakaberd Memorial park and Genocide Museum if time permits. Overnight on Yerevan
Day 4: BIBLICAL MT. ARARAT AND THE CRADLE OF WINE
Breakfast at the hotel. Drive to Khor Virap monastery 4-17 cen. and take a magnificent view to Biblical Mt. Ararat. Continue to Noravank monastery 9 – 14 cen. situated over the Ghnishik river canyon. Wine tasting in famous wine making regions and return back to Yerevan visiting Carpet factory in Yerevan. Optional dinner in Carpet Factory with Master Class show. Overnight in Yerevan
Day 5: UNESCO HIGLIGHT
Breakfast at the hotel. Drive to Sagmosavank monastery of 13 cen. and take a nice view to Qasagh river canyon making a semicircle to Armenian highest peak – Mt. Aragats. Continue to the northern part of Armenia and visit Hagpat monastery 10-13 cen. which is one of UNESCO highlights. Return back to Yerevan and stop at Armenian Alphabet park. Overnight in Yerevan.
Day 6: FROM CHRISTIAN ROOTS TO TRADITIONAL HANDCRAFTING
Breakfast at the hotel. Drive to the religious center of Armenia – Echmiadzin Cathedral 4th cen. UNESCO. Visit also Zvartnots cathedral ruins 7th cen. UNESCO Return back to Yerevan and visit Matenadaran manuscript depositary. Free time at Vernissage open air handcraft market. Farewell dinner at a traditional restaurants with live music and dances . Overnight in Yerevan
Day 7: Departure
Transfer to airport. Departure.
The order of the itinerary is subject to be revised.
Museums are closed on Mondays.
Scarves are required for women to enter in Armenian Orthodox churches.
Short trousers aren’t acceptable in the church both for women and men.
Wind and rain coats, hat, sun cream and comfortable shoes should be in every luggage.
